Westerwood Hotel and Golf Club, UK

Owned by Q Hotels, this is a major redevelopment of the existing Dave Thomas/Seve Ballesteros designed 18-hole golf course.

The contract began in 2007 as a 5-hole construction (holes #4 to #7 and new hole #12) on new sheep pasture land and dense pine/birch/oak woodland on a sloping site running parallel with a World Heritage Site – The Antonine Wall (which brought about some interesting working methods for the contractor). Other holes (#1, #8 and #13) were also remodelled during the same contract. The construction work at Westerwood Hotel is now complete.

This has been one of the most demanding construction projects we have worked on – in terms of weather conditions, in particular. Added to this were the difficult site conditions – on a steep hillside with numerous springs creating some challenging drainage solutions.
