Kaskada Golf Resort (Brno Jinacovice) - Czech Republic
"What is refreshing about Gaunt the architect is that he is not of the flouncing, egotistical variety. For him the award of a contract is a privilege, not a professional right and he recognises the honour of being chosen. "

“Good value and good golf in Irish splendour.”
Adam Lawrence, Golf Course Architecture Magazine.
“The course, refreshingly, has no pretentions... a seductively restful environment.
According to owner, Paul Monahan, the design brief... was to deliver a ‘proper’ golf course... an interesting challenge for handicap players, rather than one aimed at staging the Irish Open. In every sense a member’s course.
It seems clear that the finished product will become an admirable addition to golfing amenities in the metropolitan area."
Dermot Gilleece, Irish Sunday Independent
“The aesthetic effect, quite apart from the golfing challenge... is stunning.”

“Your golf course is without doubt one of the finest I have played in recent years. Great greens, great clubhouse, all adding up to a memorable day out. I will be back.”

“Castleknock is a great golf course, demands huge respect, the best designed course around. It is designed with great imagination to challenge the skill of all levels of golfers. Rare are the qualities found in this design. Beware – a true test of golf!”

"You'll go a long way, too, to find a superior 18th hole, and a trio of other par 4s would grace any course"
Barry Ward, Golf Monthly
“Jonathan, in my opinion, has made an excellent job of using the existing woodland and burns, as well as sensitively introducing further plantations and lakes to suit the existing terrain.”

Linden Hall Golf Course
Jonathan Gaunt’s best course in this region (possibly his best anywhere) also has its admirers, not least amongst them being Prince Andrew. A thrilling roller-coaster ride through mature woodland, serene parkland and high moorland, every hole is memorable and none more so than the par three 4th and 15th holes, both in lovely woodland settings and both requiring full carries over water. Set amidst a stunning backdrop of the Cheviot Hills and Northumbrian coastline, there are few better locations for “getting away from it all”.

"Spotted your course review on the Golf Europe website regarding Linden Hall.
You’ve every right to be biased about this course as you undoubtedly created a Northumberland masterpiece. I’ve played this course umpteen times now, always enjoy the challenge, rain or shine and from the tiger tee’s it can literally bring you to your knees if your game isn’t in A1 condition.
It is quite simply the best course in the region and gets better as it matures.
You should feel justifiably proud of your achievements. Well Done !!!!"

“The layout is a unique and undulating mixture of 19th century parkland, mature woodland and open countryside. Linden Hall opened for play to a standing ovation in 1997. Designed by Jonathan Gaunt in four loops, with each loop finishing close to the hotel.
But, it’s the one shot holes at Linden Hall that will remain lodged in the mind for a very long time. Each of the par threes are quite stunning, framed by mature trees and featuring plenty of do-or-die carries across water. It’s hard to pick a favourite, but the 7th is a gem.”Keith Baxter, Editor

“I was impressed by the design of the course when I first played and now the greens have improved immeasurably, for such a young course (1995) it has a feeling of being established.”

“An interesting resort course that keeps you thinking and on your toes all the way round. Great par 3’s as already mentioned and also really good greens and general condition.”

“Clearly its best facet is the excellent group of par threes – they are first class.”

Ramside Hall - UK
“We feel Jonathan made very good use of the land’s existing contours and features. This has resulted in a fine golf course of high recognition in our northern area, in being both a test of ability at all levels but also very fair.”

Ramside Hall Hotel and Golf Club
Jonathan Gaunt, the architect of the Ramside, tends to be a little more up-front, particularly when in what he describes as his “American / British hybrid” mode, as he was when designing these spectacular 27 holes which incorporate not only 14 American style lakes but also a myriad of traditional Scottish pot bunkers and greenside swales. I love the challenge of this extravagant course, which incidentally, boasts its own special backcloth of Durham Cathedral in the distance.

“West Hill…makes a strong candidate for the title of most improved course in the county. Visitors will find the money has been wisely spent restoring a classic layout to a condition worthy of its history. Completing the trio of famous neighbouring W's not far away is Worplesdon and the existence of these three great courses almost within a stone's throw is a tribute to the exceptional suitability of the terrain”

“Simply building a golf course on such an extreme site is a major achievement, and when one factors in the extraneous problems of permitting, environmental restrictions, contractors, landslides et al, it is hard to imagine how the course ever happened.”
