GGD has been advising Hallowes GC, one of the oldest courses in Yorkshire on bunker remodelling and re-alignment since 2016. It is said to have been designed originally by George Duncan, a Scottish professional golfer, who was also a golf course designer. His much sought-after professional teaching and swing analysis skills lead to him being referred to as “the pro’s pro.” He won the 1920 Open Championship. Later improvements to the course were made by Alister MacKenzie.

We firstly undertook an in-depth site inspection, and identified that not only bunkers needed to be remodelled (and in many places, filled-in) throughout the whole course, but also new tees, greens and pathways needed building together with a significant amount of drainage to be installed to keep the course in play throughout the Autumn/Winter/early Spring months.

Phase 2 of the bunker remodelling programme has now been completed (on holes #1, #2, #3, #4, #9, #11, #13, #14 and #17) to a very high standard by John Greasley Ltd.
