At Trentham GC, Gaunt Golf Design worked with Profusion Environmental and their team on a total (56 in total) bunker remodelling project at this high-profile, Harry Colt designed, parkland course. Profusion has done an amazing job of completing the work on budget and on time – the Club is thoroughly delighted with the result.
The Gaunt Golf Design Team (including Design Associate, Dougie Walker) started work with a masterplanning exercise in November 2020 which involved the assessment of all bunkers, drainage, water features and woodland management (by our Landscape Architect, Joanna Faulhaber).
Our Masterplan was finalised in June 2021 along with hole-by-hole plans for all 18 holes, illustrating all course improvements, focussed especially on a return to Harry Colt’s original design strategy. Profusion won the tender to undertake all course works under GGD’s supervision. We supervised all construction work on site, which involved marking out of all bunkers, swales, run-offs and surrounds reshaping, then, marking out/definition of sand lines in all reshaped/remodelled and new bunkers, and final sign-off of bunkers for turfing works. The project was split into 2 phases and completed in January 2023.
